The Wall Street Journal is reporting tonight that the emails FBI Director Comey referenced today may all be duplicates of those already reviewed. Yes, seriously:
Many of the emails were discovered on a laptop used by both Ms. Abedin and Mr. Weiner, according to people familiar with the matter. In searching the laptop, investigators found thousands of emails, and they determined earlier this week that some of the emails involved Ms. Abedin discussing work issues. Ms. Abedin was questioned earlier this year by the FBI in the Clinton email probe.
Authorities haven’t yet determined how many emails involved work, or if any of those included classified information, these people said. They also haven’t determined if the work emails in question are copies of messages already reviewed by the FBI.
The author of the piece, Devlin Barrett, reiterated on Twitter that this may be the same Huma Abedin email account the FBI has already reviewed:
This story doesn’t make any sense. Comey was beyond irresponsible today.
How could something like this justify disrupting the final days of a presidential election?
And how long could it take the FBI to determine if they simply found a local copy of an account they had already reviewed?
With every detail that comes out, this looks more and more like a ratfucking.
