Let’s just let this sink in. The FBI is in full revolt, and has been since this summer.
From Meet The Press (video) this morning none other than Larry Kudlow explains what it is like inside the FBI :
LARRY KUDLOW: To Andrea's point, I agree with the first part. But what I'm hearing from everybody, I mean, I have some sources in the F.B.I. and the former district attorney's. The F.B.I. is in full revolt right now. The F.B.I. has been in full revolt since the decisions made last summer.
CHUCK TODD: Not full revolt. There's been a lot. I mean it's--there are agents--Let's not say full revolt.
KUDLOW: All right, a semi-full revolt. Because what I'm getting at is if Comey hadn't said what he said to Congress and the rest of the world, it would have leaked. It would have leaked. That whole building was ready to leak that they had discovered this new source with Weiner and Abedin. So, I don't think Comey had much chance here. And I think the F.B.I. is badly divided.
This is the environment in which Comey decided he needed to hold his press conference in July, and this is the environment that he decided he needed to issue his letter to Congress last Friday.
The FBI had all this new information for the last month, but waited until last Friday to bring it up, and did not ask for a warrant until today.
The FBI has now received a warrant to look at these new emails.
The FBI says they don’t know how long it will take to look at the information.
The FBI is in full revolt.
What will they find? When will they find it?
Who’s watching them?
Think about what this means for our democracy.

Another comprehensive article I’ve seen on the infighting
Update: From decisivemoment in the comments below:
Josh Marshall has a more or less similar but much more informative article up within the past half hour. There are a number of agents at the FBI who want to go rogue on Hillary, and a lot of others who think Comey has grossly violated process with this intervention and made the agency look terrible.
Update: Great observation from phiguy in the comments below:
Umm—in the Meet the Press transcript, the remarks about revolt attributed here to Kudlow are attributed to Audie Cornish of NPR.

He is correct. The official MTP transcript is in error. That’s what the transcript says, but you can go watch the Meet The Press video, it was Larry Kudlow.
