I haven’t seen this up yet…
The UN had a vote today condemning Israeli settlements in Gaza and the West Bank.
IT PASSED. 14 votes for the resolution...and one abstention. This is big...it’s the FIRST time the US has actually allowed the fact of Israel’s illegal settlement activity to be condemned by the UN…compared to the 20+ times the US has vetoed any such resolutions condemning Israel’s actions.
How much of this is due to Bibi lobbying Trump? I don’t know...given President Obama, he probably had already decided to let this go through.

Apologies for the quick hit. Here’s the rest.
Israeli settlements in Gaza and the West Bank have long been controversial. These territories were captured by Israel in the Six Day War...and have internationally never been recognized as part of Israel. There is a VERY strong argument that the settlements are illegal under the Fourth Geneva Convention (Israel is a signatory) which prohibits an occupying country from transferring population to an occupied territory. At this point, there are anywhere from 350,000 to 500,000 Israeli citizens living in these settlements.
