British Artist Chris Barker has created a "Sgt. Pepper" themed knock-off to pay tribute to all the wonderful musicians we’ve lost in 2016 and included some non musical types as well (Castro Muhammad Ali) as well as some not so great cultural events (yes, that’s a MAGA cap below the floral “Brexit” motif).
Legends like David Bowie, Prince, Leon Russel and Glenn Frey grace the photo along with smaller stars and political luminaries like John Glenn and Nancy Reagan.
The creation was a year long labor of love for Barker who had to outsource the creation to a friend when he was without his laptop during the unfortunately busy holiday season.
There are some omissions which Barker intends to rectify once this dreadful year which has passed, but he’ll leave Motörhead’s ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister in, though he actually passed in late 2015.
First time ever Lemmy was late to a party.
“This year really has got a wicked sense of humor,” Barker told The Huffington Post on Tuesday. “Just when you think it can’t shock you any more it manages to pull something else out of the bag. I dread to think what’s next frankly but for those who are asking what I have planned for next year? I don’t know. Not this, that’s for sure.”
Hopefully, 2017 will ease up on us just a bit, we’ll need all of our poets and minstrels to help us through the coming years.
And, not to worry, chocoholics, “Toblerone” isn’t taking a final bow, just downsizing.
