It’s called “zip code envy” and it seems Kelly Anne Conway has a bad case.
The vital statistics about Kelly Anne Conway, in various bios including Wikipedia, lists her address as Alpine, New Jersey, an uber-exclusive town in New Jersey that is listed as the richest in the country. The average house there sits on a four acre lot or bigger with price ranging from 49 million to starter homes in the 3-4 million dollar range. Celebrities who reside there include Chris Rock, P-Diddy, Tracy Morgan, assorted hedge fund managers and alt-right impresario Roger Ailes. Located only 8 miles from New York City it is the gold standard of the 1% lifestyle—allocated on what local residents call “The Hill; the higher up on the hill, the more prestigious.
There however seems to be an alt- GPS world Kelly Anne alone can see and hear. She actually lives in Closter, New Jersey a much more down scale, ethnically diverse community where homes are much less expensive. Here, “just folks” live where she literally lives in denial.
Her house located at 9 Litchfield Drive is located down the hill, an important distinction. Let Elena Rosenfeld of Lion Realtors explain: “We call it zip-code-envy, every time we get a listing people try to associate their house with being part of Alpine. We all make jokes about it. ”
But there is a more disturbing aspect to this. It’s a complete denial of her station in life consistent with a lack of self esteem, common to compulsive liars and overly defensive personalities. Dr. Allen Peck of Annendale University explained it this way: “Considering that she has her eye on the job of press secretary, responsible for the dissemination of truthful facts to the world press, this is very disturbing. Lying about something small like this belies a larger defect of character. I wonder what else she has lied about in her CV.”
This has not gone unnoticed by local residents and draws some chuckles down at the local Closter Diner. Michael Goodwin, a burly landscaper, put it most bluntly: “Everybody does it; they tell us they live in Alpine and we find them in another town. I guess she’s channeling her inner Magda Goebbels, like in that Hitler movie, didn’t she do the same thing?”
