Outrage. It's fun and it's profitable ...

It is a tad concerning for me as a newbie to DailyKos to see the level of vitriol that some people express against the other side (and by ‘other side’, I do not mean Republicans — by comparison, people here seem quite kind to them ...).
Some people shouted ‘English-only’ at a Nevada caucus? Outrageous!
Some people took the ‘English-only’ story to be true and were outraged by it? Outrageous!
Some people called Hillary a corporate shill? Outrageous!
Some people called Bernie an unrealistic dreamer? Outrageous!
And then the outrage builds, and someone says something even more outrageous. And everyone gets to feel justifiably outraged. (and outraged, mind you, at every Clinton or Sanders supporter in the world , even though whatever generated the outrage came from only a tiny handful)
How about instead of going down that path all the time we cut the other side some slack and interpret whatever they say or do in the best possible light? I know, I know: boring, right? But maybe, just maybe, this would help give us a more accurate picture of the real intentions of our opponents. And, if nothing else, at least we get to feel some righteousness. Not as good a feeling as righteous outrage, but hey — at least it’s something.
Save your outrage for when something truly outrageous occurs, and direct your outrage only at the people responsible.
If you are outraged by anything that I say, assume that I’m a fluffy tiger toy. Or maybe we all apply that rule for everyone? After all, a fluffy tiger toy could never say anything outrageous. :)
