Fifty five years ago our parents, grandparents, and many of you reading this, were told - “Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.”
We, the people, did just that. We sacrificed our health, our livelihood, our “selves” for this country while corporations and big banks not only asked what the country could do for them, they demanded, they wheeled and dealed. They drove wages down, while raising prices on their products. They raked in record profits, mooching off the government teat, while we tightened our belts and struggled just to get by.
Politicians have repeatedly put corporate welfare and interests above the needs of the people. It is time for them to meet us halfway.
We can no longer do the heavy lifting. Our shoulders are tired, our backs are breaking from the weight of corporate welfare.
It is our time to ask - "What can our country do for us?"
It is our time. Our time to demand an open and accountable government that works for us, the people. Not the corporations, or the one percent.
Our time to fight against systemic racism, discrimination, and sexism.
Our time is now.
We have one Presidential candidate that has been fighting the good fight his entire life.
He has fought against racism, against sexism, against inequality in all its dark forms. One candidate that has stood up for The People even when it was unpopular.
That candidate is Senator Bernie Sanders.
Senator Sanders has stood up for the working class, for the LGBTQ community, for People of Color, and against sexism since the 60’s. What he has done for this country, for our country, since the 60’s was work towards making it an America for everyone. Regardless of your ethnic background, sexual orientation, gender, or religious preference.
It is our time to elect a President who has fought for us his entire career.
Our time is now. That President is Bernie Sanders.
Thank you for your time,
Diego Romero
