Florida Governor Rick Scott stopped in a Gainesville Starbucks for a cup of coffee and ended up getting an earful from an angry constituent and YouTube user Stephen Bender caught the bulk of the confrontation on video.
As the video begins, Gainesville resident Cara Jennings is already giving Governor Scott a piece of her mind:
“You cut Medicaid, so I couldn’t get Obamacare,” said the woman, Cara Jennings, who then called him a derogatory word. “You don’t care about working people. You should be ashamed to show your face around here.”
Scott responds by telling her he’s created a million jobs.
“A million jobs? Great, who here has a great job?” she says. “Or is looking forward to finishing school? Do you really feel like you have a job coming up?”
Jennings continued on, chiding him for cutting women’s health care, shouting:
“Shame on you Rick Scott,” she says. “We depend on those services. Rich people like you don’t know what to do! When poorer people like us need services you cut them. Shame on you Rick Scott! You’re an embarrassment to our state!”
And with that, Governor Rick Scott ran out of the Starbucks. He never even had a chance to order his coffee before he tucked tail and ran.

Turns out, Cara Jennings is a former elected official in Florida!
“He just signed into law a very prohibitive bill that affects women’s access to basic reproductive health care, so when I saw him I took the opportunity to talk to him about it,” the activist and former Lake Worth city commissioner said, adding that she couldn’t tell it was Scott when he walked into the downtown Gainesville store.
“I asked him why did you pass that awful bill that cuts funding for basic reproductive health care? He said I don’t vote on bills. I said you signed it into law. He told me to go to the county hall clinic.”
