So much water has been sucked out of California’s central valley by groundwater pumping during the California drought that the valley floor has dropped and the surrounding mountains have noticeably risen, increasing the risk of earthquakes. Everyone in California knows that even this year’s super El Niño couldn’t break the drought. But Donald Trump knows better. There is no drought because some rivers still flow all the way to the sea. According to Trump, until the rivers in California are dusty dried up mud pits, there is no drought.
In Fresno, Trump said he spent 30 minutes before the rally meeting with more than 50 farmers who complained to him about their struggles.
"They don't understand — nobody understands it," he said, adding that, "There is no drought."
You see, the government mandated that some water be left in the river so all the fish wouldn’t die and the property rights of people living downstream would be protected, so there is no drought. Does that make sense? Hell no, but we’re talking about the Republican nominee for president.
