My Dear Brothers in Spirit,
You have worked hard and amassed wealth beyond your wildest dreams, giving you a powerful tool. You have mastered the art of business, as is attested to by your wealth, and Government is nothing but a business waiting for your masterful hand to guide it. You have developed a silver tongue through your experience and practice at influencing legislators and lobbyists at every level, and can pretty much get people to do anything you want. The time has come. You can finally overthrow the government without taking any chances of failure and completely legally. Now, come, it’s not as hard as you might think. Just listen to me carefully and I will guide you through it, step by step.
Our greatest strength is that your Republic is completely controlled by its laws. Even its morals or ethics are deemed to exist only as they are expressed in its law. And thanks to your Brothers, the masses completely identify what is legal as being moral, and what is illegal as being immoral. It is our
strength because, given the intelligent and problem-solving nature of men like us, we have found and will always find a way to seep through the cracks or get around the corners of those laws to do what we want, “legally” and “morally”! Therefore, all that is left for us to do is gain control of the law. Through this we will be able to control what is and is not legal, and in time we will control not just the government but the whole country.
To accomplish our goal we will need the dominion over the courts, the legislature and the masses. You will also need to paralyze the President, our last remaining stumbling block, so that he does not interfere.
You will need dominion over the highest court in the country, and maybe a few that are one step below. This shouldn’t be a problem, as our Brothers are everywhere. And if, perchance, you can’t find one, you still have the power of your money and the power of your silver tongue. (Or is that tongue now gold?). Just some friendly advice: You need to frame every challenge in terms of the Republic’s Constitution and the Rights in that Constitution. Their Constitution and their Rights are very vaguely worded so both are very vulnerable to interpretation, which will work in your favor. Remember that the older the “Right” is when it was written, the harder it will be to interpret in today’s time, so those are the “goldmine” Rights. You will need to keep the court focused on the Rights of the individual, only, and focused away from the rights of others. They should interpret the Constitution and these rights based on a strict and literal definition of the language with no other equitable considerations. They should not look at the "intent" of the framers' language in order to interpret the language extensively unless it is to your benefit. And under no circumstances are they to try to balance any interests, like a compelling government interest in the general welfare of the people, or government corruption, or public safety, or any other such nonsense.
Why the court? Using your main tool and primary power, money, in their election-based political system is defined as “corruption”. So, the first thing we need to do is make what they so rudely call
“corruption” legal. I suggest that you get the court to link money with some high and mighty Constitutional Right, like speech. It sounds pretty far-fetched, but with my help it will work. In fact, I’ll bet you can even get them to define corporations, the source of your wealth and power, as a person with rights! I can hear you laughing and shouting “Preposterous!”, but, with my help, I’m telling you that we can get it done. And “corporate personhood” and corporate “rights” are such fertile ground for us to cultivate in the future. But we’ll talk about that another time – there are other things we need to take care of first.
Now, I don’t want to alarm you, but you will also need a well-armed militia of “Patriot Citizens”, loyal to “The Chosen Party” and standing ready to do your bidding. (Don’t you just love that name “Patriot Citizens”? I can just see those arrogant, self-important fools puff out their chest and strut proudly each time they hear it! Titles are a great recruiting tool!)
Understand that, as I stated before, we are going to do all of this legally and successfully. But a wise Italian Brother of mine (If I remember right, he was royalty, but not very royal, if you know what I mean) many centuries ago gave me some advice that I think is relevant here. He said “You must know, then, that there are two methods of fighting, the one by law, the other by force: the first method is that of men, the second of beasts; but as the first method is often insufficient, one must
have recourse to the second.” I think we have more than sufficient means to be successful by law, but we should have a safety net, just in case. Don’t you agree? So, you will again need the influence of the court, this time to get unfettered access to the weapons of their choice for each one of your “Patriot Citizens”, whoever they may be. Just remember what I told you about the Constitution, rights of the individual, no balancing of interests, and so forth.
Once you have achieved that, you need to pick one of the two political parties to establish dominion over. I have been referring to them as “The Chosen Party” and think it is a title they will especially like to call themselves (Again, titles are a great recruiting tool!). You need to control them from the very top, meaning their national campaign headquarters. That way, you can use their already well-organized multi-tiered communication system and their existing power structure to accomplish things. You simply tell Headquarters what you want done, and they send the orders out to every level. I would suggest that you chose the party that is most open to your ideas and suggestions, rather than looking at who is currently in the majority in Congress. You can fix that “majority” problem in a jiff if you just follow my advice regarding the masses, or what they call “the people”, which we will cover next.
Once you can freely use your powerful tool of money and have dominion over “The Chosen Party”, you can control not only elections, but their members currently in Congress and probably most of the legislators at the State level. Think of it: The entire “Chosen Party” at all levels and all of their members in the legislative branch will be entirely dependent on you for their survival. And they will know that if they don’t do exactly as you want them to, you can pull the plug on all of that money and they will have nothing; they will be helpless against “The Other Party.” Remember, their country is in the middle of a huge economic crisis and the people cannot be depended on for the largesse you provide. I told you, the timing couldn’t be better.
You will need dominion over the masses, as the last power left to the Republic is what they call “the consent of the governed”, or voting. In this area we’ve already done some work for you, by convincing more and more of the masses not to vote using some of our natural resources like pessimism (convincing them that voting for either candidate would be bad so they shouldn’t vote), self-focus (convincing them that they are too busy and there are too many more important things to do), avoidance of responsibility (convincing them that, even though they think voting is important,
their vote won’t really make a difference so it doesn’t matter if they don’t vote), passivity (convincing them that they aren’t interested in politics and not to bother voting), and suspicion (convincing them that they really don’t know if their vote is even counted; that the whole system is probably rigged anyway so they shouldn’t vote). We even used religion and got it to work for us! We convinced some ministers that only The Enemy was worthy of choosing leaders and they told everyone in their church not to vote! And they didn’t! Man, sometimes I am almost envious of The Enemy. The masses will do anything, without a second thought and without questions if someone – anyone! - tells that that it came from The Enemy. But we have been able to turn that into one of our most effective tools: Blind obedience! So, keep on with the work we have started for you in keeping the masses apathetic and antagonistic to voting.
Keep working on stopping people from voting the traditional way – by keeping the “undesirables” away from the polls. I know we have used it time and again, and that they keep making laws to make our tools illegal, but it will slow them down, to our advantage, until we have time to reach our goals. Remember; soon you are going to be in control of all laws. They won’t be able to stop you for much longer. If they try to pass a law, you can stop it. Not only can you pass your own laws, but you will even be able to get rid of those nasty laws that they put in your way in the past.
If they try something dirty and underhanded like threatening to require that the masses vote, just use our natural resources again. Appeal to their natural arrogance and self-importance by telling them that people who don’t vote are less intelligent, less responsible and less informed about the issues and will significantly diminish the quality of electoral decisions. Appeal to their pessimism by telling them that it won’t change anything and election results will be the same or that people who are required to vote will rebel and blindly pull levers. Appeal to their suspicion by telling them that people will end up in prison or lose their jobs and be unemployable if they don’t vote when required. Appeal to their passivity and avoidance of responsibility by telling them that all that is needed is for someone to make voting easier.
At another time we will talk more about the idea I introduced in your Republic at its beginning of allowing only “propertied” people to vote. I was unsuccessful then, but I think the idea still has possibilities. Maybe, people who have “invested” in your Republic should be the only ones allowed to vote? Or maybe we can build on that whole “voting is a privilege” idea and limit the “privilege” to our people?
Once you have dominion over the masses and have your next election in your Republic, you
should have dominion over the legislature by having a majority of “The Chosen Party” elected to both houses of Congress. Yes, you will have dominion over the law! Think of how glorious it will be! “The Chosen Party” can pass any law that you want, and only laws that you want. “The Chosen Party” can repeal any law that interferes with your profit or wealth. “The Chosen Party” can repeal any law that interferes with your dominion over the masses. And “The Chosen Party” will have control of the budget and all funding for the government. Finally, “The Chosen Party” can get rid of that insulting waste of money being thrown away on human beings that contribute nothing to the economic growth or profitability of this Republic – the poor, the elderly, the handicapped, the retired. And “The Chosen Party” can cripple the government by reducing its revenues (like taxes) to a pitiful amount, and at the same time “The Chosen Party” can help you reward your Brothers and recruit new Brothers by reducing their taxes as much as possible. And they can do so much more!
And no one will be able to stop them or you. There will be nothing that anyone can do except watch.
“The Chosen Party” will even be able to undermine, block and paralyze the President. Every move he makes, through executive order or laws that he got passed, “The Chosen Party” can use the courts and their majority power in Congress to have all of it removed, or prevent it from ever going into
effect. They will be able to tell States that they can ignore any law of the President. They will be able to correspond with and meet with foreign Heads of State to undermine and degrade the President’s international negotiations that impacts global security. They can even let foreign Heads of State know that they, “The Chosen Party” are the only power left in the Republic. They will be able to contact international organizations with close to 200 member countries and let them know that the President can do nothing without their approval so they cannot rely on the President’s word or commitment.
And through all of this, no one will be able to do a thing to stop them. Not one thing.
Don’t worry about anyone trying to amend the Constitution. You have complete power over that. The majority power of “The Chosen Party” will ensure that no matter how many times “The Other Party” presents a constitutional amendment bill for vote, nothing will pass. They can even be sure that it never comes up for vote, because they have the power to set the legislative agenda. And if anyone tries to get around this and call for a Constitutional Convention, just remember that no matter how many States submit applications, Congress, and thus “The Chosen Party”, is the only one with the power to call for a Constitutional Convention, and it requires a two-thirds vote.
No one will be able to do a thing to stop them. Not one thing.
There may be some that might mention that “seditious conspiracy” law. You know, the one that goes “if two or more persons….conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property …..”, yada-yada-yada. Don’t give it a thought.
You and I know that the glory and beauty of the power of “The Chosen Party” in Congress is that using its power of majority to force the repeal of laws, force the passage of laws and forcefully block laws from being passed, is as effective as having “The Other Party” bound and gagged and stuffed in an abandoned warehouse; as effective as planting land mines every three feet in the office of the President. But that is the beauty of all this: Their laws don’t define this kind of force as illegal! That conspiracy law only applies to illegal force, like brute physical force or violence. This plan is pure genius, I tell you! Continue to work the plan, my friend, and I am sure you will be successful. The plan cannot fail.
Perhaps someday in the near future a member of “The Chosen Party” will be elected President and all of the members elected to Congress will be members of “The Chosen Party.” And then, my friend, you will truly have a Republican form of government: A government of your people, by your people and for your people. And you will have sovereignty over all.
