Donald J. Trump, “successful” business man, television personality, and the Republican party’s 2016 nominee for president, has the world’s attention and not in a good way.
The son of Fred Trump, who amassed his fortune from building apartment complexes in New York, began building his empire after receiving a loan for $1 million, though the legitimacy of the figure has been questioned by many (including former opponent Marco Rubio who claimed Donald was given $200 million).
He is currently polling at 44.0 (right behind Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton who has 44.9) and appeals to people because he is wealthy, a business man, and he has no political background (which is like wanting a doctor who has no medical background to remove your appendix – it’s not a good idea). Here are five things Donald Trump got wrong regarding foreign policy and in general:
“The number of illegal immigrants could be 3 million. It could be 30 million.”
Politifacts gave this statement the rating of “Pants on Fire,” meaning it is a blatant lie. Homeland Security has estimated that the number of undocumented illegal immigrants living in the United States is just over 11 million – a far cry from 30 million. Many experts have said that his figure is virtually impossible and that there is no way we have an extra 20 million people living in the country, unnoticed.
“Inner-city crime is reaching record levels. African-Americans will vote Trump because they know I will stop the slaughter going on!”
If you look at charts that document violent crimes (homicide, rape, and assault), you’ll find that, overall, crime has actually decreased since the 1990’s. Of course, crime has jumped in certain cities (i.e. Orlando and Cleveland), but it’s still lower than Trump claims. We should also note that he only holds 1% of the black vote.
"With these new economic policies, trillions of dollars will start flowing into our country. This new wealth will improve the quality of life for all Americans—we will build the roads, highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, and the railways of tomorrow. This, in turn, will create millions more jobs."
This is great in theory, but Republicans will always oppose spending on railways and similar infrastructures so it just won’t happen. In fact, his ridiculous budget plan would leave no room for such expenditures, anyway. (For more on this, see

“NAFTA, signed by Bill Clinton, was a disaster for Pennsylvania.”
The North American Free Trade Agreement, which aimed to make trade easier between member countries, may not have lived up to its promise, but was Trump right to call it a disaster for Pennsylvania? Well, PA lost 308,432 manufacturing jobs to China and Mexico – about 7%. The United States’ economy has grown in the past twenty years, though millions of jobs were lost during NAFTA (and not just in Pennsylvania).
“Barack Obama founded ISIS. I would say the co-founder would be crooked Hillary Clinton.”
This is just so absurd that everyone disagrees.
Anyone who would publicly say that POTUS is the creator of a terrorist organization should not be president. He has no place for
american business’.
This list is just a sample of what Donald Trump has said on Twitter, in interviews, and in speeches. In fact, this does not even begin to reveal how racist, misogynistic, and bigoted he is (and not to mention how clueless he is when it comes to policy and budgeting).
He has swindled countless people out of money, created a fake college, treats his employees unfairly, and has been called a
con man. Is this the person you want running our country? He won’t “Make America Great Again” – he will be bad for business, bad for the economy, and bad for us.
