This is bittersweet for me. I am glad Colbert and friends finally ripped into PamBo last night. She is a truly heinous person. I even have a strong suspicion that Colbert found the stolen dog story from a Rec'd diary I wrote detailing her “questionable ethics", as he put it. (The diary was a top search result until his show last night put the national spotlight on her).
The thing is, I wrote about all of her corruption well over two and half years ago, when something could have been done about it. I blogged, wrote letters, and talked at any forum I could.
Florida re-elected her in 2014 in a landslide.
This is what happens when you don’t vote.
Pam Bondi, who was nothing more than Sean Hannity’s lackey on Fox News before becoming Florida’s top cop—(btw, thank you, rightwing oligarchs), is notoriously corrupt, dishonest, and personally reprehensible.
In Jan 2014, in the aforementioned Rec’d diary, I wrote about Pam:
- taking a bribe from Donald Trump,
- stealing a Katrina victim’s family dog,
- moving an execution date for a prisoner that interfered with a fundraiser,
- firing top assistant AGs because they were fighting Florida’s mortgage fraud,
- using taxpayer funds to fight voting rights, healthcare access, and for some reason, toxic cleanup of the Chesapeake Bay—which is NOWHERE near Florida.
Recently, her comments after Pulse had city commissioners fuming. She has spent her whole career fighting gays, and even used our money to fight gay marriage, despite having a pretty non-traditional arrangement after two divorces.
But she will continue to be our Attorney General. A law that forbids doctors from talking to their patients about guns goes before the Supreme Court—and PamBo will be there on our dime trying to fight for it. Our state has already wasted millions of dollars defending indefensible laws, and there is no end in sight.
I’m glad people are laughing. I just hope this will inspire a few more people in my state to care enough to stop being the laughingstock of the nation when 2018 rolls around.
