As I’ve watched this story about Russia having info on Trump and his campaign staying in contact with Russia I can’t help but think back to the Bush Air National Guard story on 60 Minutes. What we all knew was a true story was knocked out by a fake document given to Dan Rather. Hindraker was able to disprove that document so quickly that it’s hard not to think it was a plant. The story rang true and was being investigated by the media but as soon as the document was disputed the story was killed.
Looking at the current story there seems to be two parts with one being outrageous and the other being true. We’ve all pretty much known that the campaign stayed in touch with Russia through the reporting that was done throughout the campaign. There were stories about computers at Trump Tower that seemed to have only one job that was directed at one destination. Stories that Trump had about emails before they broke. The fake story he referenced which then disappeared.
Then we have the “golden shower” part of the story. That’s the part that everyone is focusing on and the part that could trip everything up. We need to keep that in mind as this story evolves and be careful not to give him the opportunity to weasel out of the larger and much more politically damaging political collusion with Russia part of the story.
