On January 9th, I proposed a means for letting anyone who reads our stories, our tweets, our Facebook postings, our letters to editors, and/or our comments on news sites that we don’t believe Trump* has ascended to the presidency through legitimate means. In light of Congressman John Lewis’ remarks on Friday,
Asked (by NBC’s Chuck Todd) whether he would try to forge a relationship with the president-elect, Lewis said that he believes in forgiveness, but added, "it's going to be very difficult. I don't see this president-elect as a legitimate president.... I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected. And they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton,"
I am proposing this easy-to-do, yet visually engaging, idea once more. EVERY time you type Trump’s* name, follow it with an asterisk. End your message with *illegitimate (on it’s own line if possible). I don’t know how much traction my initial proposal received, though it might be making the rounds as noted in this DK story.
FWIW: this concept originates in the sports world. Baseball greats who doped to achieve their records have an asterisk placed next to their names. The asterisk indicates that their achievements are considered illegitimate. Their records could not have been achieved without the assistance of Performance Enhancing Drugs. There are a litany of reasons Trump* should be considered illegitimate but I propose his primary illegitimacy stems from the use of Putin, a Performance Enhancing Dictator.
Show your support of Congressman Lewis and just try it for a couple of posts. Let’s, please, show the world what we think of Trump*.
