Greitens continued by noting that a belt tightening was needed in order to keep taxes low, or potentially look to lower them further. Telling the press he would not make any cuts to K-12 education, the new Governor of Missouri submitted his proposal… which included $8.6M in cuts to K-12 education, cutting transportation budgets to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Cuts also include: the department of aging, contributions to AMTRAK. What may not be getting enough attention, though is a simple, $1M line item: a cut to election services. Missouri, which has one of the more stringent voting guidelines in the country — same day only voting — may turn the cuts to election services as a way to further limit access by many to the ability to vote.
