A source says that the Trump Administration is close to putting forward an executive order that would reverse President Obama’s 2014 executive orders protecting employees from anti-LGBT workplace discrimination while working for federal contractors. The order is expected to come before Thursday, when President Trump will address the National Prayer Breakfast.
The extent of the executive order is no yet known, though the source said it may allow federal employees to refuse to serve LGBT people on religious grounds. Though Trump said in his speech accepting the Republican presidential nomination that he would “do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens” from terrorism and attacks, Vice President Pence promoted such a “religious exemption” as Indiana governor and has a long history of anti-LGBT stances.
