The great hypocrisy on display by conservatives in our country in connection with the peaceful protests going on during the playing of the national anthem at sporting events was never more apparent than this past weekend. On October 5, four U.S. soldiers were killed in Niger, after what has been reported as “an ambush” by “extremists.” Those soldiers’ names were:
Staff Sgt. Bryan Black, 35, of Puyallup, Washington
Staff Sgt. Jeremiah W. Johnson, 39, of Springboro, Ohio
Staff Sgt. Dustin Wright, 29, of Lyons.
Sgt. La David T. Johnson, 25, of Miami Gardens, Florida
A terribly tragic set of events for men sworn and serving to protect our country. President Trump made no statement. He tweeted no tweet. The best that was offered up was ornery lying machine Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ churlish responses.
Q [Jon Decker] Thank you, Sarah. The body of another U.S. soldier has just been discovered by local forces in Niger, which brings to four the total number of Green Berets that were killed on Wednesday in Niger. So far there’s been no response to this by the President. No tweet from the President, no statement from the President. Can we expect some sort of reprisal by the U.S. military in Niger as it relates to what happened on Wednesday?
MS. SANDERS: I made a statement on behalf of the administration yesterday in the opening. Obviously, anytime one of the members of our great military are injured, wounded, or killed in action, that is certainly something that we take very seriously. Our thoughts and prayers are with those individuals. We're continuing to review and look into this. And as we have more details, we’ll certainly let you guys know.
So while many wondered out loud what Donald Trump and maybe the world’s biggest moral-bullshit artist Mike Pence might say, Vice President Pence decided to waste taxpayer money to stage a bunk anti-protest-protest in the NFL. Meanwhile President Trump cried about late night television and the need to censor the news, had an unseemly set of tweets attacking Republican senator Bob Corker of Tennessee, bragged about donations to the Republican Party from his marks supporters, and threatened World War III. That’s the “patriotism” of white supremacy. It’s not about our country. It’s about a bunch a fearful old white guys who wish they could live forever, who want everyone else to be punished in order to justify their miserable cynicism towards humanity.
