The redneck Sheriff who harassed a woman over a controversial political sticker on her truck would have done better to have left this woman alone. Karen Fonseca, the woman who had the colorful and eye catching “Fuck Trump And Fuck You Too For Voting For Him,” decal is now selling her design as a bumper sticker and raising money for the local Democratic party. KHOU-TV:
"I never chose to be in the news at all," said Fonseca. "Until Troy Nehls made it public on his personal Facebook page."
But now that her name and her "F-Trump" truck has been plastered in headlines all over the world, she's turning the attention into profit.
She and her children are selling the now infamous "F-Trump" bumper stickers. She also plans to sell "F-Troy Nehls" bumper stickers. Each one will go for $15, and she says they're selling fast.
"Why would you put it on your vehicle if you didn't agree with me?" said Fonseca. [...]
"It's turned into this bigger thing, everything is back ordered," said [Democratic party member] Ali Hasanali. "We can't print enough, even if they want to buy now there's going to be a delay because we have to print a lot more up."
Hasanali works with Democrats in the county and says Fonseca is now a symbol for the party and people who want to stand up to politicians who they feel are abusing their power.
If you haven’t been following the story, Fonseca was arrested last week on an unrelated and old bench warrant for fraud, said to be a retaliatory measure by Nehls. Houston Chronicle:
Fonseca said Monday that Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls “messed with the wrong person” when deputies arrested her Thursday on an old, unrelated warrant for fraud.
Nehls posted a photo of the truck on Facebook on Wednesday in an effort to identify the driver after receiving complaints. Nehls initially considered a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge, but the local district attorney said he didn’t think it would be a prosecutable case.
Nehls said publicity about the truck brought the August warrant to his office’s attention. Fonseca was released from jail shortly after her arrest.
Fonseca said she won’t be intimidated and will continue standing up for her free-speech rights.
Great oaks from tiny acorns grow. Perhaps Fonseca will one day run for elective office? She has the courage of her convictions.
