Donald Trump's working hard, but naturally it has nothing to do with serving the American people. He's desperate to find a foil for the Russia entanglements that are beginning to strangle his presidency. Here’s the start of Trump’s Friday morning campaign:
By “everybody,” we assume he means all his Russian bot followers, whose concerns warranted another seven tweets following that opening bid. Three of those tweets explicitly called on the FBI and the Department of Justice to investigate Clinton for, well, everything: “New Donna B book says she paid for and stole the Dem Primary. What about the deleted E-mails, Uranium, Podesta, the Server, plus, plus...”
It’s clearly driving the Don crazy that he can’t just order two of the federal government’s most powerful investigative bodies to go wherever he wants and not where the facts lead. His Friday tweets come on the heels of a radio interview on the right-wing “Larry O’Connor Show” in which Trump repeatedly lamented the fact that, as president, he wasn’t supposed to “be involved with the Justice Department [...] with the FBI.”
"I look at what's happening with the Justice Department. Well, why aren't they going after Hillary Clinton with her emails and with her, the dossier?" Trump said, referring to the Democratic Party-funded dossier designed to find connections between Trump and Russia that has been both partially discredited and partially corroborated.
The president added that he was "very unhappy" with where the Justice Department "isn't going."
"I am not supposed to be doing the kind of things that I would love to be doing," he said. "And I am very frustrated by it."

UPDATE: Right on cue from the AP: “Asked if he would fire Sessions if DOJ doesn’t focus its investigative powers on Democrats, Trump said, ‘I don’t know.’”
Also, make the seven times: “Honestly, they should be looking at the Democrats,” Trump told reporters before departing the White House on a 12-day trip to Asia.
“Hopefully they are doing something,” he concluded, “And at some point, maybe we are going to all have it out.”
Add the three emails to Trump’s twice-repeated wonderment that the FBI and DOJ aren’t “going after” Hillary and his final wish that “hopefully they are” and that makes at least six times in the last 24 hours Trump has directly urged the two bodies to investigate Hillary Clinton with zero evidence or even cause to believe that anything criminal took place.
Trump may momentarily grasp that interfering with the Justice Department and FBI are a no-no, but it’s only a matter of time before he breaks that norm too. Nothing is sacred in his world but him.
