People woke recently (eons ago, seems like) to the smell of success brewing as the effort to protest Fox News’ Sean Hannity, purveyor of fake news, moved from one advertiser to the next, calling on companies to withdraw their advertising dollars, or face consumer boycotts. Keurigs literally flew through the air, and Hannity’s advertisers one after another withdrew their support of his “program”.
Corporations are now scrambling to consider and communicate where they stand in these divisive times as consumers band together via boycotts to make themselves heard, and their issues understood. They correctly realize that they may find their product the next target of a boycott.
Just ask Papa John’s and the NFL, both reeling from the immediate impact of their decisions to support unacceptable unAmerican fascism, racism, sexism and the spreading of false propaganda.
A quick hashtag search under #boycott brings up an array of efforts already underway, some of which have been ongoing for years. It is both overwhelming and inspiring to see so MUCH organized resistance!
Having been unable to find a list of ALL the current boycott efforts, this diary is an effort to begin to gather together in one place such a list. Perhaps it can become a goto resource for all things related to our collective consumer power to spend smartly, to vote with our wallets, to be a force for good.
If you are aware of such a list that already exists, or another effort that could/should be included here, please do share in the comments; I’ll add to and/or edit this text.
There IS an app for that!

#BoycottKoch #BoycottKochBros
Given the reality and urgency of climate change, and the basic worldwide shared need for a healthy environment, boycotts targeting those whose industries harm the environment take precedence for this treehugger.
Koch Brothers Inc. is one of the top 13 polluters in the USA. Boycotting their products is easy in one sense as there are so many products (see graphic for a few), but the sheer magnitude of their empire would take a huge mounted effort to make an economic impact. Recall though, boycotts focus attention on the issue, and in so doing, educate.
www.niftyhomestead.com/… This blog by Kieran, contains a quick rundown on Koch Industries Inc., owned by the Koch Brothers, David and Charles, billionaires active in politics for decades, currently very much behind the repeal of health care and tax cuts for wealthy corporations such as their own.

EndCitizensUnited.org champion of campaign finance reform, seeks to overturn the ruling that allowed the formation of PACs, the Dark Money behind the politicians pushing, ramming legislation through that benefits special interests of the rich elite and ignores the interest and will of the people.
#NetNeutrality — 12/14/17, the FCC reversed Obama era regulations in place designed to keep the internet “neutral” regarding pricing and creation of slow/fast lanes. An immediate response is the effort to boycott those supporting this move such as #BoycottVerizon #BoycottATT #BoycottComcast
These companies supported the repeal of #NetNeutrality:
#BoycottALEC American Legislative Exchange Council, a group of corporate interests and legislators organized in 1973 to influence legislation, membership private, but there’s an effort to unmask them: en.m.wikipedia.org/…

Fake News — actually a neologism for a problem that is both ancient and widespread. Contemporary efforts to resist the spread of fake news have birthed organizations such as Snopes, Factcheck.org and fueled citizen journalism to help people navigate the smoke and mirrors being utilized by those who seek to destroy our ability to think critically and act accordingly.
#BoycottMurdoch Rupert Murdoch media mogul, is a conservative, longtime supporter of, and adviser to the current administration, speaks to the president every week, is reportedly close to Jared Kushner. Current Chair of Fox News, where sexual allegations have resulted in ousting of several prominent key figures, including Bill O’Reilly. Also own the Wall Street Journal, and many many more publications.
#BoycottFoxNews #FireHannity efforts target that arm of Murdoch’s vast empire which purveys “fake” news as real news and is currently leading a campaign to smear Robert Mueller and the FBI over the Special Counsels investigation. Fox is about to be sold (those close to Murdoch call it a merger) to Disney; another boycott is #boycottFOXDisney
The targeted boycotting of products, corporations, their owners, the politicians they own and their products along with supporting their competition, is an easy nonviolent strategic means of peaceful massive protest that we as consumers all can participate in and support.
NOTE: Boycotts should not and will not replace our efforts to get the vote out, vote, vote, vote, flipblue, call MoCs, write letters, send emails, attending meetings and townhalls, stage sit-ins, march, hits the streets and stay there, STRIKE…
To be continued...
