While national Republicans are fleeing from Roy Moore after four separate women came forward to confirm Moore made sexual advances to them as children, Alabama state Republicans aren't as of yet making the same moves.
Alabama State Auditor Jim Ziegler, a Republican and Roy Moore backer, doesn't find Moore's history of sexual advances toward children concerning. Instead, he's defending Moore's sexual advances toward children by citing the Bible.
“He’s clean as a hound’s tooth,” Ziegler claimed, before relying on Scripture to defend Moore.
“Take the Bible. Zachariah and Elizabeth for instance. Zachariah was extremely old to marry Elizabeth and they became the parents of John the Baptist,” Ziegler says choosing his words carefully before invoking Christ. “Also take Joseph and Mary. Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter. They became parents of Jesus.”
“There’s just nothing immoral or illegal here,” Ziegler concluded. “Maybe just a little bit unusual.”
This is the sort of pedophile-supporting Bible-ripping bullshit that makes Alabama Republicans the garbage of Amer—sorry, I mean golly, I sure hope somebody takes this fellow aside and sets him straight on a few things.
Also, this is the sort of language that suggests Alabama State Auditor Jim Ziegler has a history worth investigating himself.
Also also, it doesn't appear that Roy Moore offered to marry any of the children he made sexual advances toward—so it seems Roy Moore is not quite the Biblical hero Jim Ziegler is supposing he is—you cretinous theocratic pile of predator-defending human excrement. Please resign. Or, you know, walk into the ocean or something.
