Officials are responding to an explosion in Midtown Manhattan in the Port Authority area Monday morning, New York City officials confirmed to NBC News.
The explosion took place near 42nd Street and 8th Avenue, according to the officials. Multiple ambulances have been requested. [...]
The A, C and E trains were being evacuated, according to an NYPD Twitter account, which said police were responding to reports of an explosion.

Per CNN, the fire department says that four people were injured in the explosion. No word on the degree of injury, nor if one of the four includes the bomber himself. (CNN followed up by saying that none of the injuries are life-threatening.)

At a press conference with the mayor, governor and New York City police commissioner, it was said that:
- It was a failed, attempted terror attack
- This was a “low-tech device”
- All of the injuries were minor
- The suspect who is in custody is 27-year old Akayed Ullah
- Explosion was caught on security video
