Circulation of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand's tweet indicting Donald Trump's grotesque charge Tuesday morning that she would "do anything" for campaign contributions is running laps around the Don's original tweet. As of 1 PM ET, Gillibrand’s tweet had been retweeted about five times as much as Trump’s opening salvo this morning—69,0000 times compared to 14,000 times. And the retweets just keep on rolling.
The numbers reflect the growing movement toward holding men and, yes, even a president, accountable for inappropriate sexual behavior. In fact, a hundred Democrats issued a call Tuesday afternoon demanding an investigation into Trump’s own history of sexual harassment, writing, “The American people deserve a full inquiry into the truth of these allegations.”
The American people agree—fully 70 percent want an investigation into Trump opened and he is doing his level best to keep that discussion front and center.
