In light of today’s NYTimes story that ties the beginning of the FBI investigation to George Papadapolous drunkenly telling an Australian agent about Russian “dirt” on HRC….that disaster of a phone call between the Australian P.M. and Drumpf makes more sense:
It should have been one of the most congenial calls for the new commander in chief — a conversation with the leader of Australia, one of America’s staunchest allies, at the end of a triumphant week.
Instead, President Trump blasted Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull over a refugee agreement and boasted about the magnitude of his electoral college win, according to senior U.S. officials briefed on the Saturday exchange. Then, 25 minutes into what was expected to be an hour-long call, Trump abruptly ended it.
Not one month later, Nick Warner, the Director of Australian Secret Intelligence service got the full latex search at LAX arrivals:
You'd think being the top government spy of a staunch US ally – travelling on a diplomatic passport – would spare you the latex welcome, but no. Not even. Warner got the full treatment last month at LAX arrivals, transferring for meetings in the capital (including, you'd safely assume, at Langley, Virginia). Could you imagine the uproar in Washington if John Brennan or Meroe Park copped a solid frisking at Tullamarine?
At the time, both events were real head scratchers….why the hostility to one of our closest allies? He obviously knew about this, I imagine intelligence agencies briefed him on this at the time. The vindictive fuck is going to get us all killed if the belligerence gets out of hand….
(Looking through the comments, I’m surprised there is no comment on my lovely pic of Joey the Skeptical Cat considering it is at the top of the Rec List :)
