It was less than one full month ago that Rep. Mike Coffman bolted out the side door of his own constituent meeting after the overflow crowd wanted to drive home the message that a repeal of the Affordable Care Act was unacceptable. Coffman was reportedly “overwhelmed by ACA supporting constituents.” Here is the video of him escaping his meeting while more than 100 people waited inside, still in line for their turn to talk to the Congress member.
Rep. Coffman must have gotten the message because his office just announced he will be holding a “listening tour” in his district next week:
Colorado Republican Rep. Mike Coffman promised constituents that there would be no repeal of Obamacare without a replacement while others in his party are pressing for Congress to do the opposite.
Coffman made the pledge while announcing a “listening tour” on the Affordable Care Act in his district.
Coffman said he will hold meetings with members of the medical community, patients and constituents in order to discuss the issues and concerns.
“My objective is to personally hear from them on how the ACA has affected the healthcare system, medical professionals, and most importantly, how it has affected patients access to medical care,” Coffman said in a statement. "I will use their input not only to review my own plans on how to proceed, but also to communicate their concerns to my congressional colleagues. Additionally, I want to communicate again that no repeal will take place without first having a replacement.”
If you live in Colorado’s 6th District, keep an eye out for event dates and times at coffman.house.gov/ or the Facebook page for Congressman Mike Coffman. And if you do go, please thank Rep. Coffman for doing what so many elected officials, especially Republicans, are avoiding at all costs—meeting and listening to constituents.
