Jesus Christ. DJT. Diametrically opposed. Foes.
Ever since I saw this image for the first time about a week ago I still cannot get my mind around the kind of person who would
- create this image
- enjoy this image
- look at this image without throwing up a little.
I mean, seriously.
What is it that deplorables SEE when they look at something like this?
Why don’t they laugh at the ridiculousness of it?
Why don’t they find it offensive? Why doesn’t it make their skin crawl, or their stomach turn, or give them a deep shudder of revulsion, as it did for me the first time I saw it?
Why don’t they see what the rest of us see?
I’m not talking about people who look at any representation of Jesus and come at it from a purely secular “I don’t believe in the sky fairy” viewpoint. I know there are lots of those folks here at DK.
I’m talking about people who claim to know Jesus, claim to believe in Jesus, claim to follow Jesus, claim to know scripture, claim to be people of faith, who look at this picture and see something admirable.
What is wrong with them?
In DJT I see a man who has never done a single thing in his life that bears ANY relationship to ANYTHING Jesus ever said, did, advocated or believed.
In DJT I see a man whose familiarity with scripture is minimal (“Two” Corinthians? For real?) and who looks incredibly uncomfortable in every church photo op he has ever staged.
In DJT I see a man who hears the phrase “you cannot serve God and money” and sees no problem with choosing the latter.
In DJT I see a man whose use for women is 100% utilitarian—a woman’s value is based on what she can do for him (or to him). Women who don’t turn him on, make him money, or otherwise feed the bottomless pit of his narcissistic appetite are worse than useless to him, they disgust him.
In fact, I see a man whose use for EVERYONE is purely utilitarian. Everyone in his life is either using him or being used by him.
I have never seen him express a moment of genuine affection for anyone, including his family members.
And he seems to have no friends.
During a presidential campaign there are usually interviews with, well, the candidate’s *friends*. Joe Blow who was his college roommate and always knew he’d run for president someday. Or Jane Doe who was his elementary school teacher and was surprised when he went into politics. Did anyone see any interviews like that at all during 2016?
And then during the Republicon convention, the only people who spoke were people who were either currently dependent on him or trying to get a job from him in a future administration.
Are they saying that Jesus’s hand guides all Presidents? Did they believe he was guiding Barack Obama, a man who has much stronger evidence in his life for Christian faith than DJT?
If Jesus were guiding his hand, DJT would not be able to sign a document that would deliberately separate mothers from their children in order to punish them for being political refugees.
He would not be able to sign the bill that the zombie-eyed granny starver is salivating to get in front of him that would deprive millions of people of access to life saving medical care, or other social programs that feed the hungry, clothe the naked, tend to the sick, visit those in prison, respect the foreign traveler, or care for the weak.
I am getting sick and tired of people whose only measure of Christianity is forcing women to have babies they are unable to care for.
Honestly, the only thing that made me willing to live in a world where people were sharing and praising this image was a few days ago when I saw this rebuttal photo, which is much more accurate:
