I met Paul Stamets over 30 years ago when I did some business with his company Fungi Perfecti located in Olympia, WA. Back then Paul was crazy about fungi and would not hesitate to speak at great lengths on anything you wanted to know about the subject. Lost touch with him when we moved over to the east side of the Cascades, we really don’t grow a lot of mushrooms under semi-arid conditions.
I was thrilled, delighted, and inspired when this article came across my screen. I truly do believe Paul’s discovery has the potential to change the world. As stated by executives in the pesticide industry, this patent represents
“the most disruptive technology we have ever witnessed.”
And when the executives say disruptive, they are referring to it being disruptive to the chemical pesticides industry.
You’re not going to see this on the MSM, the patent was granted to Stamets in 2006. I’d like all of you to read the article so I’ll just leave you with this teaser.
“What has Paul discovered? The mycologist has figured out how to use mother nature’s own creations to keep insects from destroying crops. It’s what is being called SMART pesticides. These pesticides provide safe & nearly permanent solution for controlling over 200,000 species of insects – and all thanks to the ‘magic’ of mushrooms.
Paul does this by taking entomopathogenic Fungi (fungi that destroys insects) and morphs it so it does not produce spores. In turn, this actually attracts the insects who then eat and turn into fungi from the inside out!”
Please share this information with everyone who has an interest in the honey bee surviving, being able to eat food without a delightful side order of pesticides, the phasing out of GMO corn and other genetically modified seed, and generally interested in saving the life in our soils.
I’m pretty excited and I’ve got to get back to work so this isn’t my best piece of writing but I hope you’ll forgive me and get the word out anyway. The world you help save might be your own.
