Welcome back, Donald! Your personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, now appears to be in legal jeopardy and has become a "focus" of the expanding Russia scandal enveloping your administration. But by all means, keep your son-in-law Jared Kushner on board and keep on tweeting! Cuz when it comes to criminal acts and sentencing, judges totally take into consideration all the retweets you get from the Trump bots that follow you. ABC reports:
Cohen confirmed to ABC News that House and Senate investigators have asked him “to provide information and testimony” about any contacts he had with people connected to the Russian government, but he said he has turned down the invitation.
“I declined the invitation to participate as the request was poorly phrased, overly broad and not capable of being answered,” Cohen told ABC News in an email Tuesday.
After Cohen rejected the Congressional requests for cooperation, the Senate Select Intelligence Committee voted unanimously on Thursday to grant the chairman, Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina, and ranking Democrat, Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia, blanket authority to issue subpoenas as they deem necessary.
Make no mistake: Cohen is very much a part of Trump’s inner circle. So if the investigation is touching Cohen, it’s a hair’s breadth away from the Oval Office. Cohen
worked in concert with former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort on a “peace plan” that would essentially gift Crimea to Russia by lifting U.S. sanctions intended to punish and rein in Vladimir Putin. That plan
reportedly landed on Flynn’s desk sometime in February.
Cohen recently met with Sater and Artemenko; and Cohen agreed to personally deliver the peace plan (actually a sealed envelope with documents detailing it) to the President when he met with him at the White House. Cohen says he left it with General Flynn days before Flynn was forced to resign.
