Kenneth Bernstein:
"FORMER STUDENTS...We just ended teacher appreciation week, and I promise no trinket or treat is better than knowing where my brilliant students ended up and what they're doing now.
I'd love for my former students to reply to this post and tell me how they are doing and what they are doing (school, job, career, passion, etc.) now. I can't wait to hear from you! Please share with any of your classmates!!!"
(Borrowed from some terrific teacher friends!)
Below I share what the students gave back to me. Several were not at that point my Facebook Friends but heard from classmates (we are now Friends).
The students who responded trace back as far as those I taught in a middle school in the period 1995-1998. One parent also responded.
What I offer is what they originally posted. I have had extended conversations with several, and have already made plans to get together with two of them, with more pending.
Note — I did have to remind some of them they are now adults, I have a first name, and it is not Mr.!!!
Also note — while I am only listing first names, in fact there are no restrictions on viewing what is on my Facebook page, which is why I am listing the first names and sharing the posts, although not the subsequent exchanges (which are also visible). Some of the people who LIKED were others of my Facebook Friends.
Anyhow, all of this very much cheered me up, and I am looking forward to the students I will be seeing.
