I know there are a front page story and a diary on the rec list about this already, but what Joe and Mika revealed on Morning Joe this morning takes it even further and even lower, and I didn’t want this video to be buried at the bottom of hundreds of comments.
LAST NIGHT Stephen Colbert said on his show that something he’d thought was impossible had happened: Donald Trump had shocked him. He was, of course, talking about the bleeding-from-facelift Tweets.
Now I’m saying the same myself, because I almost can’t believe that a sitting President of the United States would sic a sleazy tabloid run by a buddy of his on two prominent TV personalities, even having reporters chase their children and stake out their house, then have him minions repeatedly call the pair saying that the story would be spiked if they’d submit to his will and apologize for their negative coverage.
Don’t believe it yourself? Watch.
But wait… can they prove these claims?
Sure, but guess what. They don’t need to prove the central one. The perpetrator confessed... in the way he always does.
Not true that Joe called Trump (as Joe can prove) but true that Trump could stop a National Enquirer article.
And not stop one —
Apparently the story was published in the dead-tree version of the rag on June 5. But it appeared on their website this morning. Yes, what a coincidence.
Boom. Now it’s all out. They’re talking about it on national TV.
Here’s the thing. It is obvious that this is how Donald Trump has run his entire life and career. He’s just pulling exactly the same tricks, but now from the Oval Office. Those who have any notions that he will ever change, moved by the importance and the dignity of his position, have to realize he never will.
This is who the man is in his very soul. He does not even understand the importance of his position, or the basis of its dignity, because it represents responsibility for hundreds of millions of people directly, and billions indirectly, and he neither comprehends the concept of responsibility nor has empathy for a single other person, let alone many.
This story is beyond chilling. It—it alone—is grounds for impeachment, in my book.
On top of everything else.
The story is trending on Twitter, no hashtag, just ‘National Enquirer.’
