There are a few things you can set your watch to: unpopular President Donald Trump tweeting something that embarrasses your soul, traditional media outlets wondering aloud how the Republican Party lets this happen, and Rep. Steve King saying something profoundly ignorant and offensive while wearing a tie that says “look at me, I want to be famous.” During the U.S. House’s “General Speeches,” Republicans blathered about Russian/Trump hysteria and sexual reassignment surgery in the U.S. Military. Rep. Steve King went on a long-winded history story about the Ottoman Empire and eunuchs that he followed up with this special thought:
King: And we are thinking that we are going to make the military better while people lining up at the recruitment center who have planned to do sexual assignment surgery and know if I can get into the Navy, army, air force and Marines and become a Navy SEAL and submit to sexual reassignment surgery—and go from a man to a woman. By the way, it doesn't look like there will be any women becoming men after going through SEAL training.
This is a perfect example of the illogical, irrational, and generally abhorrent nature of the Republican “think tank” that is today’s Republican ideology. Men who go through the military, make it to the elite Navy SEAL program, become an actual NAVY SEAL, are doing this in order to go through sexual reassignment surgery to “become” a woman. Forget about the crazy stupidity of that thought for one moment. Let’s say that every single man that wants to and becomes an actual Navy SEAL only did that in order to get the expensive sexual reassignment surgery (since the Republican healthcare plan includes not covering contraception co-pay, let alone sexual reassignment surgery). Let’s pretend that 100 percent of all Navy SEAL men have only been motivated by the idea of getting sexual reassignment surgery—who fucking cares? They’ve become and been trained to do some of the harshest and darkest work our government hands out to human beings. To top off Rep. King’s bigotry of stupidity tour-de-meh, he makes what I am guessing is a joke for him.
By the way, it doesn't look like there will be any women becoming men after going through SEAL training.
What does this mean? That women who go through the grueling Navy SEAL training realize that being a man is more grueling than being a woman who has gone through the grueling Navy SEAL training? Seriously, what does this fucking mean? That any woman who goes through Navy SEAL training understands more about being a woman than any man going though the same training understands about being a man? There is no logic, nothing, but a rhetorical turn of phrase meant to give the implication of ironic meaning—while providing none.
You could give Steve King 20 lifetimes and his sorry-ass wouldn’t be able to spell Navy SEAL let alone become one—and he’s clearly still awaiting his human-being-reassignment surgery.
