It’s rare that Fox “News” reports the news without a pro-Trump spin. But Fox legal analyst Andrew Napolitano threw a wrench into the Soviet-style propaganda narrative of the mighty right-wing wurlitzer. As Huffington Post reports (emphasis added):
A Fox News legal analyst believes there’s enough information out there to “commence a criminal investigation” into accusations of collusion between the Donald Trump campaign and Russia.
“It is a crime to receive something of value, when you’re a campaign official, from a foreign person or a foreign government,” Judge Andrew Napolitano said Monday on “America’s Newsroom.”
Fox News host Sandra Smith asked what it would have meant if Donald Trump Jr. and other campaign officials received information about Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton at the Trump Tower meeting last year with Russian operatives.
“That would’ve been a felony,” Napolitano replied. “That would’ve been the completion of a crime.”
Napolitano also said it appears there was an attempted cover-up of the crime:
He called it “suspicious” that the Trump campaign didn’t tell anyone about the meeting and that White House aide Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, who was also in attendance, didn’t mention it on his national security application.
Kudos to Judge Napolitano for calling it like it is, without a pro-Republican bias. Now the question is, will Republicans with political power do anything about the fact that we have people in the White House who likely are criminals?
I’m not holding my breath. But if they do nothing, then it’s clear they put party above country, party above the rule of law, and the best interests of Russia above America. Because Judge Andrew Napolitano is no liberal snowflake.
Let the felony indictments begin. Let Kushner’s security clearance be revoked — like, yesterday. Let sanity prevail over madness, and the concept of “no man is above the law” become the shared political creed of the United States. That’s the kind of bipartisanship we need.
