If you wanted more evidence that many Trump supporters are completely out of touch with reality, look no further. The political survey company Public Policy Polling released a slew of mind-blowing—and extremely depressing—statistics about Trump voters’ views on the constantly unfolding Russia scandal.
You read that right. Most Trump voters don’t believe Donald Trump, Jr. met with the Russians even though Trump, Jr. himself says he did. Hell, the information became available straight from the horse’s mouth when he tweeted out the emails that led to the meeting.
How is this possible? Public Policy Polling says it’s due to “willful ignorance” from the Trump-voting crowd.
On Russia related issues we find a certain degree of willful ignorance among Trump voters that can possibly best be summarized by this finding: only 45% of Trump voters believe Donald Trump Jr. had a meeting with Russians about information that might be harmful to Hillary Clinton...even though Trump Jr. admitted it. 32% say the meeting didn't happen and 24% say they're not sure.
That finding is in keeping with the general attitude of Trump voters toward the Russia story which is 'don't know, don't care':
Overall, Trump voters do not really care about Russia. The number of Trump voters who think it’s all “fake news” comes in at 72%. And what’s probably most upsetting is that they wouldn’t be bothered if there really was collusion with Russia: a whopping 77% of them would want Trump to stay in office while only 16% would want him to resign.
