Comedy, trolling, or just trying to do their job when the guy in the White House isn’t? Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and other Democrats are calling on Donald Trump to confront Russian President Vladimir Putin over Russia’s interference in the 2016 U.S. elections.
It would be a “severe dereliction of duty” for Trump not to raise the issue, the senators said in a letter to the president on Thursday. [...]
“Putin directed an attack on the most central tenet of our democracy – our election,” the senators continued. “We believe it is crucial for you – as the President of the United States – to raise this matter with President Putin and to ensure that he hears you loud and clear – interfering in our elections was wrong in 2016 and it will not be permitted to happen again.”
So far, though, Trump is getting the Russian stamp of approval for his public comments in Poland. And even if Trump wanted to confront Putin—which he has shown no signs of wanting—as Hunter pointed out, the meeting with Putin will generally be considered a success if Trump manages not to blurt out his own PIN. Assuming he remembers his PIN.
