Renounce them and remove them: Bannon, Gorka, Miller, Sessions, and Trump. That should be the new mantra of Democrats. None of these pieces of wretched, human detritus belongs in a twenty-first century White House. Demand that people choose: basic human decency or hate and racism. That those are the choices always was clear, and to pretend that it was not is a lie. After Charlottesville, the consequences are clear as well.
These deranged losers never would have been accepted in any other administration. That is how far the media and the Republican Party have come in normalizing Trump – who owes his victory to an anti-democratic electoral construct that was a nod to the slave power. It is time to reverse that normalization.
Demand that people take a side. No more passes. No more limp, un-American excuses for lethal irresponsibility.
For those who openly choose racism, so be it. For those who refuse to choose, those cowards who would crawl through the gutter to avoid choosing, hammer them. Aggressively label them for what they are: enablers if not supporters of hate and of racism. Then, pound that label into them relentlessly.
Some won’t care. Some won’t believe anyone else will care. But we can make this an issue – if not the issue it should be – if we follow through with unceasing intensity from this day until we win.
It is time for the Democratic Party to demand that Republicans choose.
It is time for every Democratic candidate to demand that his or her opponent choose.
Demand that friends and acquaintances choose. Every post to social media must begin and end with the new mantra.
Renounce Bannon, Gorka, Miller, Sessions, and Trump. Remove them from the White House. Choose: humanity or hatred, decency or racism. There is no middle ground anymore. Take a stand or be labeled forever a cowardly supporter of racism and hate.
