Among so many extraordinary moments in 2017 (and not “extraordinary” in a good way) this stands out — even more so because it comes from the Attorney General of the Trump Administration who, of all people, has just spoken the naked truth.
Only minutes ago in an ABC interview on Good Morning America , Attorney General Jeff Sessions has drawn a bright, hot red line by stating unequivocally that the fatal auto attack during last Saturday’s Charlottesville white supremacist/neo-Nazi that killed 32-year old paralegal Heather Heyer and injured at least nineteen others was, in Session’s own words, an act of “domestic terrorism”.
During the astonishing interview, Sessions danced around relentless questions concerning why president Donald Trump has, in an official statement concerning the event, opted to blame “many sides” for the shocking violence and hatred on display at the Charlottesville, SC “Unite The Right” rally that brought white supremacists and neo-Nazis out in force — as if the South Carolina citizens who came out to protest the public celebration of vicious bigotry and fascism were themselves to blame for being run down by a Dodge Challenger driven by a young man who, according to one of his high school teachers, was “very big into Nazism” and “really had a fondness for Adolf Hitler”.
And, now reports CNN, federal investigators “have enough evidence to be suspicious that the suspect” (in what Jeff Sessions has just identified as a domestic terrorism attack) “James Fields, Jr. intended to send a message, not just harm the immediate victims. They’re also looking into whether he had any accomplices.”
