These emails were recently obtained by the Washington Post, who after studying the contents of the emails gained some very valuable insight intp the Trump campaign’s efforts to collude with the Russians during the election. Per the Hill:
New emails from President Trump’s campaign obtained by The Washington Post show that one staff member on multiple occasions tried to set up meetings between campaign and Russian officials.
The Post in a report published Monday detailed the emails sent by George Papadopoulos, who was a volunteer on Trump’s campaign, from March through September of last year.
Papadopoulos in April told the Trump’s campaign manager at the time, Corey Lewandowski, that Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to “host the Trump team when the time is right.”
Putin wanted to host the Trump team when the time was right. Really?!! When exactly was the right time for Putin to host the Trump team? Did they want to discuss coordinating Trump speechs with the release of hacked information? Or was to discuss a quid pro quo for the fixing the election in Trump’s favor? Inquiring minds want to know.
To his credit, Paul Manafort expressed concerns about the activities of Papdopoulous. Still, these emails are reflections of a corrupt campaign apparatus. Unfortunately, there is no reporting as to who Papadopoulos received his directives from.
These emails are a sample of the 20,000 Trump campaign emails that were turned over to congress last week. We should be prepared for more damaging revelations in the weeks to come. Winter if coming for Trump. Winter. Is. Coming.
