Breitbart and its readership are not simply racist, homophobic, Islamophobic and xenophobic—they’re afraid of everything outside their window. On Friday, the right-wing rag published an article about Spanish police busting a migrant gang on jet skis. Very racist-James Bond!
Big problem is that this migrant and his “gang member” jet ski getaway man is Germany’s World Cup champion Lukas Podolski, and that image is from when he was being taken on a jet ski while having some fun in Brazil.
Podolski has not commented on the error. The 32-year-old spent three years playing football in London, at Arsenal, from 2012 through 2015. There, he won the FA Cup under French manager Arsene Wenger before moving permanently to Turkish club Galatasaray.
The German played 130 times for his country before announcing his decision to retire this year. He won the World Cup with Germany in 2014, the tournament at which he is photographed in the Breitbart article.
Breitbart quickly retracted the image and apologized for the error. Listen, we all make mistakes—but Breitbart editors are racist assholes, so screw them.
