Trump exploits 9/11 anniversary to promote himself, just like he did 16 years ago

It’s the anniversary of 9/11 and Donald Trump’s pr*sident, so why not commemorate the day by tweeting out a self-promotional video of “unity”—as in, ahem, singularity of content.

That’s right, when Donald Trump writes “#NeverForget911” what he really means is: #NeverForgetMe and how ahhmaaazzzingly presidential I am.” Of course, because Trump is #ForeverTrump, it’s not the first time he’s done something unconscionable on 9/11. Amid the shock and horror of that day in 2001 when Americans watched the Twin Towers crumble before their eyes, Trump took a moment to brag about the grandeur of Trump-owned 40 Wall Street, now the “tallest” building in New York City.

“40 Wall Street,” he said, referring to his 71-story building blocks away from the now-collapsed twin towers, “actually was the second-tallest building in downtown Manhattan, and it was actually, before the World Trade Center, was the tallest—and then, when they built the World Trade Center, it became known as the second-tallest. And now it’s the tallest.”

Because that’s what a normal person would be thinking in the immediate aftermath of what was already emerging as one of the deadliest attacks ever carried out on American soil.
