The newest Fox News poll will probably not get much play on Fox News itself.
Asked if President Trump is drawing Americans together or tearing the country apart, more than half — 56 percent — choose the latter option. That includes 59 percent of independents, 93 percent of Democrats and even 15 percent of Republicans.
Is the sitting president tearing the country apart is, no doubt, a question left over from the Fox Polls of last year—some idiot forgot to update the Obama-era list of push-poll questions and let that one slip by. But in its inclusion we see once again the steady erosion of Trump's support, bit by bit, as he continues to screw up in even the most rote and ceremonial functions of the office. When it takes you multiple tries to denounce actual flag-waving Nazis, that's going to leave a mark.
The president’s general approval rating, which has yet to clear the 50 percent threshold in Fox News surveys since he entered office, remained at 41 percent, the same score he received last month, and is 7 percentage points down from the poll’s first post-inaugural findings in February. Trump’s disapproval rating, meanwhile, reached a high of 55 percent this month.
He probably shouldn't worry. These numbers are nothing a good ol' fashioned crippling government shutdown can't make right. If rich people get their tax cuts, I'm sure the their goodwill will "trickle down" to the rest of America, right?
