Donald Trump, Friday morning: “The Russia hoax continues, now it's ads on Facebook.”
State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert, later Friday morning: “It is clear, and this administration and the entire government has been clear that Russia meddled in the campaigns and the election. That is inappropriate. Absolutely inappropriate. No one takes issue with that whatsoever.”
When CNN host Alisyn Camerota pressed her on the fact that Trump does take issue with that, Nauert insisted that “the president has been clear.” Apparently she hadn’t checked his Twitter feed before going on the air, which should be a requirement for any administration official who doesn’t want to look like a dang fool on television.
Not that anyone should have to be completely up to the minute on Trump’s tweets to know he has not been clear in any manner or form about Russia having interfered in the elections.
