Nunes’ Challenger Andrew Janz Releases Poll Showing that Democrats are Within Single Digits of Flipping CA-22
Fresno, CA - Andrew Janz, local Deputy District Attorney and Democratic challenger to Devin Nunes released a poll showing that there is a clear path for a Democrat to challenge Devin Nunes this November.
“This poll shows what I knew to be true when I announced last April: Devin Nunes is vulnerable for a challenge this year due to his ethical missteps and complete dedication to protecting the president instead of serving the people of the Valley. I’m more determined than ever to retire him in 2018.”
The memo released by Public Policy Polling shows that a Democratic opponent is currently within 5 points of Rep. Nunes in a simulated horse race, with over 60% of Independents breaking in the favor of the Democrat. This news is substantial given the last challenger to Nunes was defeated by over 20 points in 2016.

Subject: California’s 22nd Congressional District Could Turn Blue in 2018; Democrat Has Chance to Beat Nunes
Date: January 12, 2018
A new Public Policy Polling survey finds that a Democratic candidate has a chance to beat Republican incumbent Devin Nunes in California’s 22nd Congressional District. In a hypothetical matchup between Nunes and a “Democratic opponent,” Nunes received 50% of the vote while his Democratic opponent is close behind with 45% of the vote. Another positive note for Democrats is that 61% of independents support the un-named Democrat and when voters were given more information about Nunes’s partisan investigation into the Russia investigation, a plurality (44%) said they were less likely to vote for him in the next election.
PPP surveyed 560 CA CD 22 voters from January 10-11, 2018. The margin of error for the poll is +/- 4.1%. This poll was conducted by automated telephone interviews. This survey was conducted on behalf of Democratic challenger in CA-22, Andrew Janz. Andrew Janz is the Democrat and local Deputy District attorney in Fresno County challenging Devin Nunes. Janz announced his candidacy to Rep. Nunes last April after Nunes came under fire for allegedly mishandling classified information during a midnight uber trip to the White House.
