That isn’t the actual title of the story out this morning by Sarah N. Lynch - Reuters - Tuesday, January 23, 2018. But it's the truth.
This is the title:
WASHINGTON, Jan 23 (Reuters) - U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has ordered an investigation into missing text messages exchanged between two Federal Bureau of Investigation staffers who are accused of expressing views against President Donald Trump, the Justice Department has confirmed
Texts messages between FBI agent Peter Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page exchanged between Dec. 14, 2016, and May 17, 2017, specifically, is the latest “scandal” Jeff Sessions has instructed the DoJ to focus on.
This effort to derail the Mueller investigation into #TrumpRussia 2016 election hacking, cyber-attacks, interference, and manipulation, including money laundering allegations started early on.
Rachel Maddow dug in at least as far back as June of 2017:

Rachel Maddow reports on how a letter from two Senate Judiciary Republicans to the FBI appears to be trying to set up a case to discredit the Trump Russia investigation, a familiar political tactic by those feeling the head of an investigation.
Rachel and her team continued investigating the ongoing GOP cover-up, identifying four main faked up republican scandals. Each republican ruse followed by another scandal as each one was debunked by actual reporting by various journalists including Rachel Maddow’s excellent team.
There are other republican conspiracy theory/scandals, but these seem to be the four main ones:
1) “Recused" House intelligence chair Devin Nunes' idiotic midnight run and Susan Rice "unmasking scandal" - debunked
2) the so-called “Uranium One scandal” — debunked
3) The Christopher “Steele dossier is a fake" scandal — and several different versions of that “scandal”, including calls to prosecute Christopher Steele — debunked
4) The e-mails between FBI agent Peter Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page “scandal" — de-bunked, but now re-upped by Jeff Sessions
Here Rachel Maddow explains who FBI agent Peter Strzok is, and exposes the ridiculous accusations that are fueling this latest excuse by U.S. AG Jeff Sessions to continue with the GOP Obstruction of Justice campaign to shield Donald Trump (@ minute 9:00 is where Peter Strzok is covered):
Published on Dec 18, 2017
Rachel Maddow looks at how the Donald Trump campaign was already having contact with Kremlin-connected Russians as the FBI warned them about exactly such outreach, and points out that the texting scandal Republicans have tried to whip up is not actually good for Trump.
— so nothing new here. Nothing breaking that hasn’t been covered before. It’s just another of many reports out; this one from this morning, that have become normal, and largely unnoticed as anything out of the ordinary these days
Democracy and our elections were hacked and attacked. That isn’t over, but despite repeated warnings, the entire GOP, every single republican politician, even those who tsk..tsk displaying a moue of disapproval are doing nothing to guard against what none of them is willing to recognize much less do anything about — all indications point to the fact that they are invested in doing the opposite.
Both chambers of the GOP congress abnegate their sworn duty to defend the United States Constitution, protect our democratic electoral process, uphold the Separation of Powers, abide the Rule of Law, and defend our sovereignty as a nation
