In March, when 60 Minutes interviewed Trump bête noire Stormy Daniels, the show drew 22 million viewers. By comparison, Trump’s Sunday interview with the news magazine garnered a little more than half that — 11.3 million.
Given that he’s the president of the United States, you’d think his viewership would, well, mushroom, but no. Seems people are tired of his gamy larynx farts and would rather watch anything else — like grass growing, or middle-aged men eating nachos on the subway, or squirrels decomposing in their backyards.
From Deadline:
The newsmag’s 1.8 rating among 18-49 year olds and 11.3 million viewers, while the strongest showing of any non-NFL program Sunday night, marks a 47% dive in the demo and 43% in total viewers, relative to Trump’s most recent previous 60 Minutes sit-down.
Even worse (or better, rather), Trump’s ratings were lower than those of the previous 60 Minutes broadcast with an NFL lead-in, and you know that just has to be killing him:
Trump’s Sunday 60 Minutes interview also appears to be down by double digits compared to the newsmag’s most recent broadcast benefiting from an NFL overrun. On September 30, the newsmag logged 2.2 demo rating and 13.537M total viewers.
I look forward to the day when “Puppet Show and Donald Trump” appears on a county fair marquee near me.
Until then, we can all bask in the reflected glory of this utter, abysmal failure.
