Shooting at Pittsburgh Synagogue leaves multiple dead and wounded

At 10:45 ET, police in Pittsburgh reported an active shooter near the Tree of Life Congregation Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pa. According to local media reports at least 4 are dead. Several reports are saying 7 or more.

The Squirrel Hill area is one of Pittsburgh's largest Jewish neighborhoods and Tree of Life Synagogue one of the largest congregations. More details as they are available.

It appears that the shooter is still active. Police are telling those in the area to shelter in place.

Reports are now indicating that a suspect in the shooting has surrendered. If you are in the area, do not take this an all clear signal. More information is developing, but the situation is still confused.

ABC News is reporting that police in New York City are deploying protection to synagogues and Jewish locations throughout New York City. This appears to be a precaution, and not a response to a known threat.
