The FBI may wrap up its investigation into sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh on Wednesday … but dozens of people who may have relevant information haven’t been interviewed. While the agency has expanded its investigation beyond the four entire interviews the White House and Senate Republicans wanted, more than 40 other people haven’t been contacted by agents.
Among the 40 people who haven’t been interviewed are Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, whose testimony kicked off this whole investigation, the therapist and friends she confided in long before Kavanaugh was nominated to the Supreme Court, and Julie Swetnick, Kavanaugh’s third accuser. While Deborah Ramirez, Kavanaugh’s second accuser, has been interviewed, agents haven't contacted around 20 people who knew Kavanaugh and Ramirez at Yale and might have known about him waving his penis in her face at a party. The FBI hasn’t even interviewed the mutual friends Kavanaugh reached out to in an attempt to squelch Ramirez’s story well before she came forward.
In short, whatever the official limits the White House imposed on this FBI investigation, the reality is that it’s a total sham, inadequate to provide corroboration or substantial new information because the people at the top—Donald Trump and Senate Republicans—don’t want it to.
Let’s elect a Senate that believes in investigation and oversight. Can you give $3 to elect Democrats in Nevada and Texas?
