There are two Trump Twitter stories here. One is that Trump is so desperate and so immoral that he has just Tweeted an ad that is worse than the Willie Horton ad. It is far worse because given the current climate of Trump unleashing the deranged to act on their hate and fear, an ad like this could encourage more violence. Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC called it “hideous.”
.
This is being reported in numerous venues including CNN:
In the most racially charged national political ad in 30 years, President Donald Trump and the Republican Party accuse Democrats of plotting to help people they depict as Central American invaders overrun the nation with cop killers.
The Trump campaign ad is the latest example of the President's willingness to lie and fear-monger in order to tear at racial and societal divides; to embrace demagoguery to bolster his own political power and the cause of the Republican midterm campaign.
The web video -- produced for the Trump campaign -- features Luis Bracamontes, a Mexican man who had previously been deported but returned to the United States and was convicted in February in the slaying of two California deputies.
The second Twitter Trump story is how many of the comments on the Tweet are highly negative. My impression is that 95% of them paint Trump for the craven racist he is. I don’t care that his apologists claim he can’t be a racist because Ivanka converted to othodox Judiasm and he he has Jews in his adminsitration and among his assocites and friends. If a person panders to racists for personal gain, that makes them a racist.
.
You many not want to view the egregious ad at all, although by now you may have seen all or parts of it on TV news shows.
.
Some of you may avoid looking at Trump’s Tweets because you think this will be counted as being supportive of him. This isn’t the case. The only way Trump can pretend to know how popular his Twitter feed is comes from how many people “follow” him. Some of these followers are said to be bots to so the number may be nowhere close to the posted 55.5 million.
.
In order post a comment on one of Trump’s Tweets you have to join Twitter. Anybody, including Trump, can read his Tweets and the comments to them.
Many have illustrations. Here are the first five that I found as I scrolled down the comments.
My impression is that many readers haven't joined Twitter and don't look at Trump's Tweets.
I joined Twitter in 2013, I don’t remember why. Here’s my account: Twitter.com/HalMBrown which has all of 47 followers, no bots, all real people who have somehow found me and who sometimes like my Tweets and who may be reading this, so a big thanks to them). If you click on it today you will see a link to this story.
