Donald Trump lackey Marco Rubio decided it would be a good idea to mock criticism of the white supremacist in chief’s recent attack on birthright citizenship, tweeting Friday that “history will remember this as the week liberal politicians and legal ‘scholars’ transformed into constitution originalists”:
Trump’s call to end birthright citizenship was part of his candidacy from the start, but he didn’t bring it up again in this manner until a week before the midterms. Aside from the basic fact that a president can’t overturn a constitutional right with an executive order those same Republicans oh-so-hated during the Obama era, Marco is also a, surprise, giant fucking hypocrite:
Once upon a time, Marco did firmly stand by birthright citizenship and coauthored the Senate’s 2013 bipartisan immigration reform bill. But now as a Trump loyalist he’s anchored himself to mass deportation, and this week voted for a congressional candidate who said birthright citizenship “needs to be reviewed.” History will remember you, Marco, but as a spineless hack who called Trump a "con man" but then voted for him anyway.
