Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen continues being a garbage person, defending the Trump administration’s decision to tear-gas children and their families at the southern border and claiming, “without evidence,” that the so-called “caravan” was using them as “human shields.” Man, she must really want to keep that job.
“It appears in some cases that the limited number of women and children in the caravan are being used by the organizers as ‘human shields’ when they confront law enforcement,” she said in a statement, according to The Washington Post. “They are being put at risk by the caravan organizers as we saw at the Mexico-Guatemala border. This is putting vulnerable people in harms way.” Maybe the “vulnerable people” are in danger, perhaps, because the U.S. launched tear-gas and rubber bullets at them?
Facts haven’t mattered much to Nielsen, and they certainly haven’t mattered much to her boss either, who flat-out made up fake injuries on the U.S. side of the border to also justify choking the lungs of children, claiming that three (how does he come up with the fake numbers?) Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents “were very badly hurt, getting hit with rocks and stones.” That was debunked by the CBP commissioner.
Loyal foot soldier Nielsen, meanwhile, “went so far as to thank Trump for his combat-ready posture at the border, heaping praise on the president as he reportedly prepares to remove her from her position at the helm of immigration enforcement.” But even with the boot-licking, Trump, loyal to no one but his own orange butt, might still very well kick her out. No matter whether or not she’s still in her job come January, House Democrats need to haul her in to answer for her deeds.
