As far as wins go, it’s a pretty small-scale one, but a win is a win! Democrat Lou Leon Guerrero has been elected as the first woman governor of the territory of Guam, ending 16 straight years of Republican control of that office.
Leon Guerrero narrowly avoided a runoff election by winning a majority outright, beating Republican Ray Tenorio by a 51-26 percent margin, with 22 percent of voters opting for write-in candidates.
It’s the first flip of the night, and perhaps a sign of what’s to come.
